Selective Insertion from CPU2 Fulfillment

Zero in on your best customers with Selective Insertion→™

Postage costs, like all other advertising costs, are going up every year. We can't reverse this trend, but we can show you a way to target your own active customer base without adding shipping costs.

Zero postage

No package should leave the warehouse without an insert, coupon, thank-you premium, accessory flyer, catalog, or other offer to sell more of your products and services. You're already paying the postage for the shipment; it's a no-brainer to insert add-on offers into the package with the purchase -- but you might be surprised how many companies miss even this obvious marketing technique.

The refinement we've added is the ability to select which offers go to which customers, using a simple select criterion, or a more complex mix of determining factors --- and to make that determination on-the-fly when the specific marketing inserts are triggered by the select logic.

All it takes to make sensible marketing matches between your customers and your appropriate product offers is a little creative thinking and Selective Insertion→™ from CPU2.

  • Pack a welcome letter and featured product offer coupon in with every customer's first purchase from you.
  • Send free trial size samples of a product line extension to previous buyers of similar items -- and no one else.
  • Test market cross-sell offers targeted to customers of "affinity products" (premium hair care items, health-conscious food, or 1960's entertainment products, for example).
  • Reward customers every fifth shipment (or tenth, etc.) with a thank-you bonus.

When you combine the power of select criteria with the ability to call any item -- and deliver the message (or product) free -- you can understand why marketers are in love with Selective Insertion→™.

Here's How it Works.

Mix and match select criteria, including all of the following:

First-time buyers of item X
→ "Welcome! Thanks for trying the world's best..."
Non-buyers of item X (customers who have never bought this particular item under any offer code)
→ "We notice you've never tried our Energy Boost formula. To sweeten the offer, we'd like to send you a 30-day supply for just the price of shipping."
Nth time buyers of item X 10th time, 3rd time -- pick any number you like.
→ "Since you're enjoying our premium roast Jamaican coffee, you might like to try our fine English tea assortment."
Nth shipment (This is one way to create loyalty programs)
→ "As our way of saying Thank You, we've paid the shipping charges on this shipment. We want you to know how valuable you are and how much we appreciate your business."
Geographic region (zip code, City, State)
→ "Atlanta consumers now have a new option to conserve water by visiting our booth at the Garden Show next month..."
"Premium" line customers (or "Bargain" line, "Educational," "Health food" line, etc.). This criterion targets buyers of a group of products with a particular characteristic or attribute.
→ "Fine healthy dining comes direct to your home with new Daily Dose servings..."
$1000 lifetime value customers. $X value, you set the threshold. Here's a perfect opportunity to show your most valued customers how much you really appreciate their business.
→ "You are very special to us. And because you're such a special customer we want you to enjoy dinner on us..."
Anniversary date of their club / subscription signup
→ "Congratulations! You've been enjoying our low prices on pet medications for a year, and to mark the occasion we're including this valuable coupon good for 30% off your next purchase."

Virtually any customer demographic, previous transactions, product choice or purchased product attributes can be used as select criteria; and virtually any insert, flyer, premium, coupon, sample or bonus item can be designated as the inserted item.

Variable messages on statements and packing slips

Variable text may also be added to your customers' statements and/or packing lists, of course -- also using select criteria. We can make it simple to customize your text messages using FulfillPro™ OMS by CPU2.
